Making personal assessments has been part of the domain of learning and education for a long time. With new technologies these assessments have become easier to setup and execute. Smartphones and apps allow for their deployment to hardware of participants themselves and remote control of survey’s contents, measurements and data. Our latest tool in the area of personal development is the Career compass website, which researchers can employ themselves for their own assessment studies.
The career compass app was developed as part of a project to study the professional identity of STEM field students. After graduation many ended up outside of the technical sector. Career Compass provides a simple method of deploying personality, interest and ambition related questionnaires. Analysis is easily done through a back-end specifically developed for the app.
