Electroencephalography (EEG) studies

In popular culture the measurement of brain waves is often depicted as highly advanced and bordering on mind reading. While incredibly useful, it is mainly an area of exploration, growth and new horizons within science. The area of Cognitive studies within the domain of Human Machine Interaction is a logical user of EEG studies. They allow for a very direct measurement of a participant’s responses and mental activity while interacting with a design or machine.

Electrophysiological (EEG) recording

Where physiological measurements offer interesting insights in direct bodily responses to stimuli, it does offer very limited insight in what the brain is doing. EEG equipment allows for a measurement of brain activity to determine which part of the brain is activated by a stimulus and how strongly. This can help determine how participants perceive or process information or which systems are active in the process.
