You can use Sociometry to collect information on your study’s participants. The Sociometry app allows for the recording of a conversation through a smartphone and enables analysis on wide array of aspects, such as the dominance of speakers, their tempo and tone. It gives key insights in group makeup and conversational progress and provides the ability to transcribe conversations. Sociometry is linked to Amberscript and provides the ability to transcribe your audio files on the Sociometry website.

2. Sign-up your a new project or Reserve for an Existing one;
3. Fill in the form and make a Reservation: Choose Equipment, and choose under “Use Environment” Career Compass
Participants can participate by downloading the app and filling in the code of your session. This can be found on the sessions page.
To connect modules to sessions first go to your study. Click on ‘Sessions’ on the left of your screen. Go to the session you want to add a module to and click on open. Here you see two drop-down fields. Click on the field ‘Select a module’ or ‘Select an informative page’, this will open a dropdown field. Select the module or informative page you want to add and save the session. You can only add one module and one informative page to your session.
Browse to https://dashboard.tech4people-apps.bms.utwente.nl, log in with your account. This will open the dashboard page. On the right click on ‘start a new study’, select the Career Compass survey button and click on create new study.
It is not possible to re-open the study after the end date. In the study details you can change when the study begins and ends and under the subscription page you can decide when to open and end subscription. These two data don’t have to overlap.
In your study go to metrics. Select the session of which you want to download the data. Next, in the upper middle click on download. Here you can download the data per session.
When you download your data, don’t click on the downloaded file. Open Excel, in the upper row click on data. In the Get & Transform Data group, click From Text/CSV. This will open a preview screen. Look for your data file and click on ‘import’.
Open SPSS. Go to file –> open –> data. This will open a new window. Make sure your files type is set to CVS. Find your data, select your data and open. The data is delimited and variable names are included at the top of the data. First case of data begins on line number 2. The denominator is a komma. The next step will show you a preview. You can now see the data in SPSS.
Not every webbrowser supports the Sociometry app. Try another webbrowser (such as Firefox).
Go to the metrics page, on the top of the screen go to download. To transcribe the audio file, select the spoken language, and click on process data. Depending on how long the interview was, this takes some time. You can check the status of the transcript, once this shows ‘Done’ your audio file is transcribed.
Once the audio is transcribed, Sociometry can do the analysis. Go to the metrics page, and go to download. Click on process data, once the analysis is done you can download the data as a CSV file. You can also check the data in a graph, go to graph on the top of the page. Here you can see the turn talking and personality insight graphs.
