About ManouVR #
The ManouVR room is set up to offer researchers a advanced space to carry out their Virtual Reality and Motion Capture experiments. The room is further set up with 3 other powerful workstations dedicated to data processing purposes. The workstations include Xsens MVN software, Adobe CC, Tobii pro, Oculus, Steam, Unity and much more. Read more.
Using the ManouVR Room and their Equipment #
- For VR: The ManouVR room is a room dedicated primarily to VR related experiments and research. The room is set up with two workstations and a VR walking set-up, the Virtualizer Elite 2 that support researchers in carrying out seamless immersion into the VR environments. Making this an ideal room dedicated to VR development, testing and data collection. Additionally there is both a wide open area and a VR walking set-up where you can test your development and conduct research with your participants.
- For Motion Capture: Additionally, in combination with VR or for separate usage you are able to book our Motion Capture equipment to use for your research. The ManouVR room is ideal for motion capture research due to the space provided in this room.
- For Data Processing: Behind the VR workstations, there are also three other workstations (1 Mac PC and two Windows PCs) that can be used to process the data you collected.
When should you use the ManouVR room?
When your study requires the use of Virtual Reality or motion capture. For studies where the participants need to stand and move around, this room and its equipment are ideal for the mobility required in your research design. The room can also be used for developing of your virtual environment and for the usage of processing your data.
When should you not use the ManouVR room?
This room is not ideal for VR experiments that incorporate driving. For this look at our Driving Simulator. VR studies that require participants to sit could also be completed in our Flexperiment rooms, this will depend on availability of our rooms.
Best Practices ManouVR #
When in the room there are some ground rules you must abide by.
Hygiene Protocol #
The below states the hygiene procedures related to persons. For equipment, follow the disinfection procedure for the instrument. For more details, read the hygiene protocol (link).
1 – Persons
1.1 – Postpone the study in case of flu, cold or other infection in the trial conductor or subject (V).
1.2 – Ensure good general body and clothing hygiene during the trial period (V).
1.3 – The simplest disinfection procedure is hand washing. This should be done, regardless of the use of gloves:
a – prior to physiological actions (V).
b – after physiological actions (V).
c – after using the toilet (V).
d – after sneezing, coughing or blowing the nose (use paper tissues) (V).
e – after unexpected contact with blood or other body fluids (V).
1.4 – It is preferable not to wear rings during examination (V).
1.5 – Nails should preferably be kept short and clean during the study period (V).
2 – VR Headsets
2.1 – When working with VR headsets, ensure every participant wears the designated eye masks
2.2 – Clean headset after every participant use with the designated cleansing wipes
a – Never use alcoholic cleansing wipes to clean VR headsets
